As you might expect, the weather of a mountain town in Colorado is a bit chilly. During the summer months, expect nighttime temperatures as low as freezing. Daytime temperatures will range as high as 80 degrees F on a hot, sunny day, less in inclement weather. Rain is not uncommon. Neither are thunderstorms. Snow is possible even in the middle of summer at the high elevations. The mountain pass snow doesn't melt enough to allow safe passage until July, sometimes later. The snow begins falling again by October. Mountain temperatures can be significantly colder than lower altitudes and climate conditions can vary quite a bit in the higher elevations. As is typical of Colorado weather all over the state, weather change can occur at any time. We have a saying. "Don't like the weather? Wait fifteen minutes and it'll change."
