We are all really looking forward to meeting each of you in Ouray next week, seeing your Jeeps, talking and going out into the mountains. On that note, we ran into a setback very recently when our insurance underwiter refused to insure organized trail runs for liability. This took both us and our very experienced agent entirely by surprise. We did everything we could to find alternate insurance but there just wasn't time, so as a result we cannot lead any organized trail runs. We hope you will understand. We are sorry for the late notice. We weren't given much notice ourselves. So, can you still go on trail runs? ABSOLUTELY. Anyone can go on any trail runs anytime they want. Just ask around and see who is going to do trail runs, or see who wants to go with you on a trail. Ok, but how do you meet and talk to all these people? Easy. We'll set up daily informal social gatherings where you can break off and do your own thing with other FSJ people as you want to. What if you are you inexperienced off-road? Don't worry! There are going to be a lot of people in Ouray who have been off-road before. Just meet some people and if people are going on trail runs, ask them if you can tag along. You can ask the guys in the orange CFSJA vests (that's us) questions about trails, too. How do the informal social gatherings work? When you sign in, you'll get a piece of paper that has a meeting places and times and a list of names under each place. Find your name and, if you like, you can go to the meeting place and get to meet some other Full Size Jeepers and, if you like, plan to run some trails or do other activities. How do I get to go on trail runs, exactly? If you want to go on a trail run say so or ask someone who is going if you can go too. (Those of you going on trail runs, please say "yes" if someone asks to go along) :) Or, decide what trail you want to go on and tell others. What about the other events? The Friday picnic is still on-- a perfect time for you to get with other people to either drive through Silverton to the picnic area (the easy way) or to run a trail that can get you to Animas Forks. How about contests? The contests are still planned, (although we had to drop the RTI Ramp and Slow Crawl). And the BBQ for Saturday? The BBQ is still on for Saturday evening, 6pm at Ouray Rotary Park at the North End of town. Oh, and don't forget the raffle. There are plenty of neat prizes we'll be giving out! I realize this change in plans comes as a surprise, but remember you can still get with people to run trails unofficially and all the other events planned are still a go. What's most important is that we'll all get to meet each other, finally, and see lots of neat FSJ's and talk about FSJ's all weekend. We can go shopping, relax in the hot springs, and other stuff too. Just plan on a relaxed weekend of meeting a bunch of great FSJ people! We'll see you there! CFSJA Invasion Planning Group
